Vandaag is versie 2.0 van Peazip uitgekomen. Peazip is een opensource archiveringsprogramma dat zich van de concurrentie probeert te onderscheiden door zich te specialiseren in veiligheid. Het versleutelen van data is dan ook het speerpunt van het eigen pea-formaat. Het programma kan 7z-, bz2-, gz-, paq/lpaq-, pea-, quad-, tar-, upx- en zip-bestanden creëren en bestanden uitpakken van nog veel meer formaten, waaronder ace, arj, cab, deb, iso, lha, rar en rpm. Het changelog van deze release laat de volgende veranderingen zien:

Archive extraction
- By default remember last used compression format
- Enabled doubleclick to open file/dirs (in system's file browser) from archive layout
- Explicitely listed "Self-extracting" as format
- Option to append timestamp to archive name
- Pea format no longer needs counter extension if archive is not spanned
File tools
- "extract selected to" using middle mouse button
- Extract / extract to / test toolbar buttons: new popup menu to apply the action to displayed or selected objects
- Improved prebrowse, now checking number of objects rather than size of the archive, to speed up opening populated archives
- Remember rename/overwrite policy for each format
