Software-update: HylaFAX+ 5.1.1

HylaFAX is een pakket voor Unix-gebaseerde systemen waarmee het mogelijk is om faxen en alfanumerieke pagina's te versturen en te ontvangen. Vanwege verschillende uitgangspunten bij de ontwikkelaars bestaat sinds oktober 2005 HylaFAX+ waarin veranderingen sneller worden doorgevoerd dan in HylaFAX zonder +. De beknopte geschiedenis van HylaFAX en HylaFAX+ is op deze pagina bij Wikipedia na te lezen. De verschillen tussen deze twee smaken worden op deze pagina uiteengezet. De ontwikkelaars van HylaFAX+ hebben enkele dagen geleden een nieuwe versie vrijgegeven met 5.1.1 als het versienummer. De lijst met veranderingen ziet er als volgt uit:

Version 5.1.1:

• prevent dead jobs from being run anyway and don't let job sending delays adjust killtime, either
• properly add UNSENT records and update q-file status when a sending job that times out also fails
• add modemused doneq/sendq item for use in notify
• add Class2DisableV17Cmd config option
• fix Class 1 DCS in sending of 300 x 300 dpi image
• allow job to disable V.34 in Class 2 driver
• improve "modem echoes dialed number" handling
• attempt to improve reception when there is bad echo
• wait longer before sending CRP
• add Duxbury/IP568x modem prototype config file
• prevent faxq usage of traceServer from crashing
• support FILETYPE and RETURNFILETYPE to be multiple
• add a one-second when sending before hanging up to help the audio get through
• fix faxinfo for JPEG when FAXDCS is not present

Version 5.1.0:

• add Class 2.0/2.1 JPEG (color) support
• fix MR reception for some Class 2 modems that indicate MR with DF=2
• add Class 2.0/2.1 JBIG support
• make faxrm produce a meaningful exit code
• prevent backwards jumps in time, i.e. clock adjustement, from stalling or crashing faxq
• prevent picking up again on the receiver's MCF signal when re-entering Phase B in a batch
• fix premature disconnection in Class 2 reception
• fix messy faxstatus entries in notify messages
• add 'make uninstall' option
• make faxinfo exit status meaningful
• add faxstat -q "show sequence numbers" feature
• allow authenticated clients access to seqf files
• fix logging of FAXNumber in "SESSION BEGIN" line
• improve job.tts sync with req.tts

We hebben jaren met HylaFax gewerkt, het enige nadeel dat HylaFax heeft/had is dat batched faxing niet ondersteund wordt/werd.

Wij zijn daarom overgegaan naar GFI Faxmaker die dit wel ondersteunt.

Verder absoluut geen klagen over HylaFax, zeker een aanrader.
