Opera is hard op weg met versie 9 van zijn browser en heeft dit weekeinde nieuwe voorbeschouwingen daarvan beschikbaar gesteld. Een van de meest opvallende verandering hierin is een geheel vernieuwde gebruikersinterface die gebruik maakt van zogenaamde Widgets. Verder is de Windowsversie nu beschikbaar in de oude vertrouwde installer, maar nu ook als msi-bestand. De rest van het changelog ziet er als volgt uit:

- Improved handing of image changes through CSS :hover effects.
- Shift+Enter in forms is no longer detected as an unwanted pop-up.
- Support PUT method for XMLHttpRequest.
- Fixed support for LSSerializer.writeToURI.
- Improved support for HTML output in XSLT.
UNIX specific:
- MSI installer can now download the Windows Installer if it is not yet installed on the system.
