In Germany, Intel filed claims that Via's P4X266 chipset infringes on European patent EP 0 694 849 and German patent DE 195 80 990. The complaint names Via and its subsidiary Via Technologies GmbH as defendants.
In the United Kingdom, Intel filed claims that Via's P4X266 chipset infringes on U.K. patent 2 287 162B and European patent 694 849 B1. In a second suit filed in the United Kingdom, Intel alleges that Via's C3 microprocessor infringes on three Intel patents, including U.K. patent 2 230 118, U.K. patent 2 261 753 and U.K. patent 2 326 494. The first U.K. case names Via and Elitegroup Computer Systems as defendants. Defendants in the second case are Via Technologies Europe Ltd. and Realtime Distribution Ltd.
In Hong Kong, Intel filed suit alleging infringement of three Intel patents by Via's C3 microprocessors. The suit alleges infringement of Hong Kong patent 931073, Hong Kong patent 1006754 and Hong Kong patent 1016711. Via Technologies Inc and Trend Electronics (HK) Ltd. are named as defendants in the suit filed in Hong Kong.
