Most market observers believe that the reason that OEM system manufacturers have begun to place large DDR SDRAM chip orders to Micron is because they have new product lines based on DDR architecture to be released around the end of the third quarter. Market speculation has the new product lines adopting processors from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and chipsets from AMD or VIA Technologies.
However, some analysts said that the orders would still not lift DDR architecture into the mainstream. They believe that DDR-based products will only have a better chance for greater growth after Intel launches its DDR SDRAM-supporting chipsets (Brookdale-D) in 2002.[break]Bij The Inquirer valt te lezen dat ook particulieren reeds last ondervinden van het tekort:[/break]After placing the order, the message from Crucial said: "Thank you for your recent order. Due to increased demand for the product you selected, we do not have sufficient inventory to fill your order at this time. Your order is currently on hold, but should ship within 7 to 10 business days."
Crucial said that while it attempted to fulfil all orders on the day they were placed, "sometimes it simply isn't possible due to the high demand for particular modules."
