Bij CDRInfo staat een verse review online van de Pioneer DR-105S. Deze IDE DVD drive draait je DVD's op 16x en is ook een 40x CD-ROM lezer. Ten opzichte van de 104S 10x versie laat de 105S een aardige performancewinst zien. Helaas blijft hij wel wat achter op het gebied van Digital Audio Extraction en CloneCD performance, toch twee vrij belangrijke onderdelen:
Overall, the Pioneer DR-105S seems to be a successful successor to the DR-104S model. The data reading performance is very good, and seek times should be good enough for most users. The DAE speed is low and seems to have problems. CloneCD users will find this drive a bad choice due to its bad performance and will possibly look elsewhere for a better solution. The DVD performance is very good and will give you many hours of entertainment.
On a second thought, we have to admit that the worst points which displeased us, are low DAE and CloneCD performance. If the drive performed better in those two areas, it would be a must-buy! The hardware lock (RPC2) isn't really a negative point, since there is a solution to overcome it. Finally, the drive is noticeably less noisy than the previous 104S model, but is still noisy enough to make your ears complain.

. Nu heb ik ter vervanging een drive van ASUS gekocht en die hoor ik bij het kijken van films helemaal niet 
. Voor de rest mag die dan misschien (wat) minder snel zijn, opstijgende DVD-spelers kan ik niet waarderen... (en op de gloeiend hete schijfjes die de Pioneer produceert zit ik ook niet echt te wachten
