Sony have refused to comment on this latest speculation but drew our attention to the fact that when there is an announcement to be made it will be made by them, and only them. Our opinion? Based on the fact that Sony need to meet a US target of some 620,000 units before they even think about manufacturing consoles for European consumption it seems likely that a delay is at least possible. Sony are almost certainly still aiming for the October 26th launch but may have implemented a contingency plan in the form of the November 17th date. The new price point is based on nothing more than a currency conversion from Benelux where the launch price has as good as been confirmed. Incidentally we firmly believe that the PlayStation2 will still retail for under £300 in the UK.
