Coen Rijkaart schrijft: "De in Australie opgedoken Athlons die ge-remarkt (al vooroverclocked ) zijn zullen worden vervangen.
Het bedrijf dat de Athlon geleverd heeft vervangt ze voor normale athlons":
Insane Hardware have been helping to get replacement Athlons for many people who unfortunately purchased remarked ones here in Australia. This has been going on for almost 2 months now. After weeks and weeks of battles with various people, I received what would almost seem to be a "victory" email. I got this message from a guy who I have been helping to get a replacement Athlon for his remarked one for almost 6 weeks since he originally contacted me. This guy certainly sounds more cheery than what he did a month back when he couldn't get much help around the place. Jai, Welcome Back! Just a quick note, I finally went and saw APD International and they swapped my fake for a real AMD 700 week 17 0.18micron. A big rap for Ngat Doan, Managing Director of APD, who personally agreed to test and swap my Athlon. Regards, V Well that to me sounds like some progress, but whether or not this CPU, and others alike will be tested is still very skeptical in my mind, but is not really applicable to the state of the CPU. Still, atleast there seems to be some effort being put in place here. Bottom Line: The company who bought these CPUs to Australia and the consumers are now replacing the CPUs for customers. The extent of this replacement is still under scrutiny by myself and I will endeavor to find out more juice on this. The company above were the ones which most distributors purchased the remarks from, unbeknown to most including APD themselves apparantly. I am still waiting to see some sort of official Press Release over at www.amd.com though. Whether or not this eventuates is upto AMD Australia and whether or not AMD America are totally aware of this. At this stage however it looks as though the remarks have dried up from circulation but it would be in the right mind of AMD to publish something so that the consumers who do not know that their CPU is remarked or not can go about getting what their hard earned money paid for if they do infact have a remark.
