Now that the brief history is outta the way, focus-time on the mouse of the day, the "Intellimouse Optical". This model came out a tad later than the "Intellimouse Explorer" and the "Intellimouse w/ IntelliEye" (both equipped with eyes). The "Intellimouse w/ IntelliEye" is the conventional "Intellimouse"; it has 2 buttons and a wheel combination button. The "Intellimouse Explorer" has 5 buttons (count those suckers!); 2 traditional top buttons with the same wheel combination button, as well as 2 buttons near the thumb. This mouse is the largest of all of the optical mice. How is the "Intellimouse Optical" different? Well, first of all it's not as big as the Explorer, but is larger than the "Intellimouse w/ IntelliEye." It also has 5 buttons, just like the Explorer, except they are more strategically placed; 2 top buttons and a wheel combination button, and instead of placing the other 2 buttons near where your thumb usually rests, they are placed on either side of the mouse. One for your thumb, the other for your pinky (or ring finger depending on how you spoon it). When I saw this, I thought to myself "that's smart!" and decided to check into pricing…
