There was a lot of hype when Microsoft released their first optical mouse, the IntelliMouse Explorer. Featuring an optical eye that snaps 1500 pictures per second and an 18 MIPS processor, the IntelliMouse Explorer quickly became the favorite of many gamers. The primary fault of the Explorer is that it is contoured for right handed users only. It is also too bulky and large for a person with small hands to use, so Microsoft designed the IntelliMouse Optical.
[...] The IntelliMouse Optical features the same mechanics as the Explorer, but Microsoft made a few changes to the external design. The Optical is lighter, a different color, and is less expensive than the Explorer. The most significant change is to the shape of the mouse. They have also changed the layout of the buttons because of this. The Explorer has two buttons on the left hand side while the Optical has one button one each side of the mouse.[break]

Overclockers Workbench heeft ook een review geschreven en ook zij zijn blij met deze muis: ze geven het een 10!:[/break]Compared to its predecessors, the Intellimouse Optical is smaller in size and it fits very well into my palm. The first generation MS Mouse v2.0 is a big too huge. I am wondering if Microsoft actually took statistics about the average palm size of Asians and tailored designed us :-)
I especially like the side buttons on the left and right. It makes internet surfing a lot easier. I find it easier to access to the left rear button than the right, but this really depends on how you hold the mouse. You can even configure it if you wish.
If you are looking for a mouse that fits nicely and do not intend to change a mouse for the next 3 years, I strongly recommend the MS Intellimouse Optical. With it's advance technology and human technology for easy surfing, I think it's a product worth your money. Go and grab one now!
