Game Forces heeft een review gemaakt van de DiamondMax Plus 40, een ATA/66 schijfje met een rotatie snelheid van 7200 rpm en een grote van 40.9 GB :
For the longest time now, I've been trying to teach people that an overabundance of storage space should not be the only deciding factor when purchasing a hard drive. What good is 30 GB of space if it takes forever to access it? So far, we've already examined one of the members of Maxtor's performance line of products, and today, we're taking a peek at the other -- a 41 GB version of the DiamondMax Plus 40. If you don't want to work a little overtime to pay the $300 for this model, capacities all the way down to 10.2 GB can be had.
For starters, you've become used to seeing high-speed hard drives sporting 7200 RPM spindle speeds and ATA/66 tranfer rates -- the DiamondMax Plus 40 is no exception. However, you also have the advantage of 10.2 gigs per platter, totalling its massive 40.9 GB of total available space via four platters. As all of Maxtor's high-performance drives are, the DiamondMax Plus 40 is powered by Maxtor's DualWave twin processor technology, which is made up of a Texas Instruments digital signal processor that handles disk functions such as reading and writing, and a Maxtor 50 MIPS processor for processing host commands.
