Bitwarden is een crossplatform en opensource wachtwoordbeheerdienst die persoonlijke gegevens in een versleutelde digitale kluis opslaat. Het is in de basis gratis te gebruiken en voor een klein bedrag per jaar is er toegang tot diverse extra's zoals het kunnen opslaan van totp-codes, inloggen met een YubiKey en opslagcapaciteit voor bijlagen. Bitwarden is beschikbaar in een webbrowser, als desktopclient, als mobiele app en als plug-in voor diverse webbrowsers. Sinds versie 2026.8.0 zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen aangebracht:

- Vault health reports: You can now run vault health reports in your browser extension to identify exposed, weak, and reused passwords. Premium and Families subscriptions can see which specific logins are at-risk, and those with a Free subscription can see how many passwords are flagged.
- Autofill SSH keys: SSH key items stored in your vault can now be autofilled using existing browser extension autofill methods, the same way logins, cards, and identities are autofilled. Learn more about autofill and SSH keys.
- Quick copy from desktop app: Copy shortcut buttons are now available for vault items when you hover over them in the desktop app, making it faster to copy an item's credentials.
- Stage users with SCIM and Directory Connector: Users provisioned with SCIM or Directory Connector can now be provisioned into a Staged status rather than immediately issued invitations. This is controlled by a new setting in the SCIM provisioning view or within Directory Connector's sync options.
- Fill assist policy and custom rulesets: Fill assist can now be set on by default on members' clients with a policy. That same policy can be used to substitute the Bitwarden-curated ruleset with a custom ruleset built and maintained by your organization.
- Access controls enforced on iOS: The existing access control policies configured in the Manage Send policy are now enforced on iOS applications.
- Vault banner policy for mobile users: The vault banner policy's custom banners will now apply to iOS and Android user vaults.

- Quick copy from web app: A new setting displays copy shortcut buttons on vault items when you hover over them in the web app, making it faster to copy an item's credentials.
- "New" buttons renamed to "Add" or "Create": The New button is now Add in most locations, including when adding a new vault item, and to Create when configuring a Send. This is a cosmetic update only; there are no changes to functionality.
- Generate organization invite link: Enterprise organizations can now generate a shareable link to invite members. Share the link through your organization's preferred communication channel, and restrict it to specific email domains to control who can use it. Rotate the link at any time to invalidate the previous one, or deactivate it to stop new members from joining.
