Software-update: Paperless-ngx 3.0.5

Versie 3.0.5 van Paperless-ngx is verschenen. Met dit opensourceprogramma kunnen documenten worden beheerd, vergelijkbaar met programma's als Immich, Navidrome en Grimmory, die dat voor afbeeldingen, muziek en e-books doen. Ingelezen documenten kunnen worden voorzien van tags, met OCR gescand en worden lokaal in eigen beheer als PDF/A opgeslagen, naast het origineel. Dit maakt zoeken naar bepaalde tekst of het kopiëren daarvan mogelijk. Meer informatie over dit programma kan hier worden gevonden. Ik gebruik het om al mijn handleidingen in huis in op te slaan. Ideaal.

Heb het pas op mijn NAS geinstalleerd en PaperNext op mijn Android telefoon. Wordt erg blij van dit programma. Voorheen gebruikte in een eigen ontworpen template in Obsidian maar dat werkte toch niet echt goed en was veel handmatig werk. Dit is veel beter. Ben alleen niet erg tevreden over de AI die alles automatisch zou moeten taggen, wat eigenlijk niet goed werkt. Maar heb al wel wat videos gezien dat je met aparte AI plugins/tools betere resultaten kan bereiken door locale AI te gebruiken. Hier ben ik nog niet ingedoken en misschien werkt dit ook niet goed op mijn NAS (tragere CPU dan desktop enzo).

Verder wel heel erg tevreden hiermee.

Als je geen (recente) GPU hebt, dan zou ik AI afraden. Ik heb recent gespeeld met AI voor tags en AI voor OCR, voor tags gaat nog redelijk qua CPU. Maar voor OCR, daar staat mijn CPU (i5-13th generatie/12 cores) 5+ minuten over te stampen met 2 kleine pagina's.

Het is ook echt een mooie toepassing. Zelf ben ik van het Less-is-more principe. Dus hoe minder tags hoe beter want hoe vaak zoek je nu ook daadwerkelijk post terug? Die ene keer zoeken scheelt me een hoop werk aan de voorkant door het zo eenvoudig mogelijk te maken. Heb iets van 5-6 tags of zo.

Natuurlijk kan kan het voor sommigen handig zijn en het zal zeker aan mijn simpelheid liggen, maar ik zie er voor mij geen use-case in. Ik scan vanaf 2018 al mijn post in en sla het op in een folder. Al mijn documenten zijn in een bepaalde volgorde opgeslagen en ik kan letterlijk welk document/foto/muziek in al die honderden GigaBytes in 10 eeconden vinden. Mis ik iets wat dit programma dan zo handig moet zijn?
