TransGaming is pleased to announce the release of Cedega 4.1, dubbed Norvegia, giving TransGamers access to more Windows games in Linux, with greater ease. TransGamers can now download Cedega in RPM, Debian and TGZ formats from the downloads section of TransGaming's website: http://www.transgaming.com/
Cedega 4.1 provides a number of performance enhancements to the 3D graphics and sound systems, along with support for Far Cry and Anarchy Online.
Enjoy!
New Features:
- TransGamers can now enjoy playing Far Cry and Anarchy Online.
- A major rework of the 3D graphics systems has been undertaken. This allows more vertex data to be contained in AGP and video memory. Additionally, for video cards which support hardware vertex programs with sufficient capabilities, the fixed function pipeline will now be translated into a programmable one by Cedega. When activated this allows even more vertex data to be placed in the faster memory. The result of this is that the previous default value of 16MB for AGP memory may now be insufficient. Users are recommended to increase this to 64MB or higher depending on their system settings.
- Sound mixing improvements, including the use of MMX extensions, where available, to improve performance.
- Copy protection improvements: Far Cry, Painkiller, Command & Conquer: Generals, Call of Duty, and the Civilizations 3 expansions pack now have supported copy protection when run in win2k mode.
- Pixel shader improvements, including correctness fixes, support for some bumpmap texture formats and some optimizations.
- Start up time has been improved for systems which have a large number of fonts installed.
- Improved handling of the AltGr input key.
- Added support for d3d7 clip planes.
- The Inno Setup installer, used by Sacred and others, is now supported.
- WGL has been updated to the latest OpenGL specs.
- Due to the release of the native linux client, DOOM 3 is no longer supported. This means that while it will continue to work in its current state, we will not be providing support for it or putting any new work into it.
