Software-update: Cedega 5.2.5

TransGaming heeft een nieuwe versie uitgebracht van zijn programma Cedega met 5.2.5 als het versienummer. Dit is een eigen implementatie van Microsoft's Win32 Application Programming Interfaces (API) voor het Linux-platform, waarmee het mogelijk is om Windows-spellen op diverse Linux-distributies te spelen wanneer je gebruik maakt van Linux Kernel 2.4 of recenter. De veranderingen sinds de vorige vermelding in de meuktracker zien er als volgt uit:

Cedega 5.2.5 - Spearfish:

Cedega 5.2.5 is a point release to correct a number of issues with EVE Online, the ATI drivers, as well as fixes for a variety of other games and issues.

• Support for the EVE Online ``Dragon'' update.
• Fix the corporation time and character age display in EVE Online.
• ATI driver workaround for the X BadValue error.
• Fix for various installers crashing at the end when creating shortcuts on some distros.
• Fix the Battlefield 2 mouse not working on Ubuntu Dapper and Fedora Core 5 64-bit X.org.
• Workaround for a Far Cry bug which was preventing it from starting on modern distros.
• Fix for incorrect mouse position in desktop mode.

Cedega 5.2.4 - Mackerel:

Cedega 5.2.4 is a bug fix release to support the latest Guild Wars update.

• Fix for last week's Guild Wars update.

Cedega 5.2.3 - Seabass:

Cedega 5.2.3 includes updates to the increasingly easier to use Cedega User Interface and some minor fixes to the Cedega engine. Our latest addition, the GDDB, has been given a shiny new update, allowing subscribers to download updated GDDB files. Game notes have now been divided into General, Install and Play sections allowing users to better view information available for any game. TransGamers can now have multiple shortcuts for the same executable all with different settings. As well the ability to rename game folders, remove engines and specify a preferred web browser have been added. A host of additional fixes have made Cedega even easier to use than ever before.

• Added the ability to download updated GDDB files from the TransGaming downloads server.
• Added multi-tab support for GDDB notes, allowing display of General, Install, Play and All game notes.
• Substantial speed improvements to the GDDB.
• Added the ability to rename Game Folders.

Cedega 5.2.2 - Ballyhoo:

Cedega 5.2.2 is a bug fix release to support the World of Warcraft 1.11 patcher and the latest publish of Star Wars Galaxies.

• Fix for the World of Warcraft 1.11 patcher.
• Fix for Star Wars Galaxies.
• Fixes for various Direct3D correctness and potential memory bugs.
• Improved DNS support in the iphlpapi DLL.
• Integration of crypt32 and rsaenh DLLs from WineHQ.

heb speciaal voor counterstrike source een cedega abo genomen maar werken doet het nog steeds niet... althans, ooit tijdens cedega 4.3 heeft het gewerkt maar daarna kreeg ik zulke rare artifacts te zien dat het niet speelbaar meer was en tegenwoordig zijn de graphics weer ok maar hapert het als een gek en crashed na enkele minuten. maar terug schakelen naar een oude versie werkt vreemd genoeg ook niet dus begin me toch steeds meer af te vragen of de programeurs van cedega uberhaubt wel op een netjes en constructieve manier code schrijven of eigenlijk alleen maar bezig zijn met patches oude patches op te patchen.

css werkt inmiddels beter met wine dan met cedega.

Dan vraag ik me toch af welke cedega versies jij geprobeerd hebt, ik gebruik het momenteel ook en heb totaal geen problemen met counterstrike.

De release voor eve was er eerder dan dat de ontwikkelaars van eve het spel upgedate kregen. De prutsers hadden een uur of 9 extra nodig dan gepland om de boel werkend te krijgen.

Ik snap het wel, maar ik vind het erg vies dat een programma moet rekeninghouden met bugs van drivers..zo blijf je bezig.. en misschien als het later gefixt word kan het zijn dat de workaround juist voor problemen zorgt etc.. lijkt me in ieder geval niet fijn voor de devvers

Deze oplossing heeft een behoorlijke hoop tijd gekost, aldus de ontwikkelaars. Pas recentelijk op een beurs in ontario canada, kwamen de ontwikkelaars in gesprek met wat ATI mensen en was er vrij vlot een oplossing gevonden.
