Software-update: Total Commander 6.01

De makers van Total Commander hebben versie 6.01 gereleased. TC is een file manager voor het Windows-platform en wordt veelal gebruikt als vervanger van Windows Explorer. Het progsel kan ook bestanden up- en downloaden via FTP en files in- en uitpakken met behulp van de ingebouwde archiver. Het changelog laat de volgende veranderingen zien:

Het benaderen van Mijn Documenten ed kan juist wel heel makkelijk gemaakt worden in TC. Gewoon de map naar de menubalk slepen en voila. Nu staat daar een mapje en als je erop klikt word deze in 1 van de panelen geopend. Superhandig

Of maak er een tabblad van. Eindeloze mogelijkheden met TotalCMD.

Die tabbladenfucntie (nieuw in 6.0 dacht ik) is echt een briljante toevoeging. Met de mogelijkheid ze te "locken" kun je heel snel wisselen van directories.

Er zou een "tip of the day" in moeten zitten want
het programma kan zo ontzettend veel.

Ik ben ook grote voorstander van total commander, werkt zalig goed.
Ik zoek persoonlijk nog altijd een mogelijkheid om hem standaard te laten openen ipv windows verkenner. Ik heb bvb een snelkoppeling om m'n bureablad wijzend naar een partitie (stel d:\).
Hoe kan ik er dan voor zorgen dat ie dan total commander opent met in het linkerscherm d:\ geopend

Syntax:

Parameters:


Drive:\Directory Loads the first directory passed to Total Commander into the left window, and the second into the right window. Directory names containing spaces must be put in double quotes! Always specify the full path name including the drive!
/O If Total Commander is already running, activate it and pass the path(s) in the command line to that instance (overrides the settings in the configuration dialog to have multiple windows)
/N Opens in any case a new Total Commander window (overrides the settings in the configuration dialog to allow only one copy of Total Commander at a time)

/L= Set path in left window
/R= Set path right window
/i=name.ini Use a different INI file name.ini instead of wincmd.ini to save settings (see also: INI file description).
/F=ftpname.ini Use a different INI file name.ini instead of wcx_ftp.ini to save settings for built-in FTP client.
/d=<x> Delays the start of Total Commander by <x> seconds (meant for the startup folder, if there are problems with other programs, which start at the same time)

/INSTALLDRIVER (Windows NT/2000 only) Install parallel port driver - only needed if you want to use the parallel port connection as a normal user and not as an administrator. Needs to be run as an administrator.
/REMOVEDRIVER (Windows NT/2000 only) Removes the driver installed with the switch /INSTALLDRIVER

Dit blijft een heerlijk programma. Ik gebruik 'm nog uit de tijd dat ie 'Windows Commander' heette ( maar dat vond Microsoft natuurlijk niks ), en het blijft mijn favoriet, voornamelijk voor het gebruik van FTP.

Het enige nadeel vind ik de nog niet geheel naadloze integratie met vaste Windows onderdelen als Mijn Documenten ed. Deze zouden eigenlijk makkelijker te bereiken moeten zijn. Verder een absolute aanrader.

Volgens mij bedoelde tweakerbee dat niet als wensen, maar als dingen in TC waar ie erg veel lof voor heeft.

Heb nav de 6.0 reacties hier ook Salamander gedownload maar die moet ik nog aan nader onderzoek onderwerpen. Eigenlijk wil ik gewoon niets anders.

Dit is inderdaad op Windows na het enige programma waar ik echt van harte voor wil betalen. Er blijven mensen zweren bij Windows Explorer maar dit is zoooo handig.

Ik heb nog steeds het color-scheme van de oude Norton Commander voor DOS. Iets anders kan en wil ik niet.

Naast de al genoemde FTP-functionaliteit vind ik de Multi-rename tool ook ge-ni-aal! Niets dan lof voor Christian Ghisler!

Dit is echt het tool voor Windows ja.
Na Norton Commander in het DOS tijdperk ben ik hierop overgestapt toen Windows 95 uitkwam.
En nooit meer zonder gekunt.

Dit is voor mij het programma om in Windows fatsoenlijk bestanden te beheren. Ik gebruik het al sinds versie 3.52 (als ik het me goed herinner, is al weer ff terug)

Mbt de niet geheel naadloze integratie met Windows. Tja, ik vind dat het wel zijn charmes heeft. Sommige dingen mis ik wel zoals een ingebouwde picture viewer (ala IrfanView bijvoorbeeld). Maar goed, WinXP levert daar ook een leuk tooltje voor mee

Wat ik wel reuze handig vind is de optie om shortcuts in de pictogram balkjes op te nemen van veelgebruikte programma's, erg handig als je ff iets op moet zoeken

Net overgestapt naar v6 en tof! Lees ik hierboven over, net als MyIE2, die tabbladen! Kan het beter? De Windows Verkenner is nog altijd goed om het startmenu te beheren. Complexere taken heb ik toch ècht TotalCMD voor nodig!
