De eerste releasecandidate van Total Commander versie 11.57a is verschenen. Dit programma kan als vervanging voor Windows Verkenner worden gebruikt. Doordat het beeld in tweeën is gesplitst, is het eenvoudig om bestanden te kopiëren, maar het programma kan veel meer. Zo zijn er diverse manieren om bestanden aan te passen, zijn een ingebouwde FTP-client en een multirenametool aanwezig, en is er ondersteuning voor een groot aantal compressieformaten. Verder kan de functionaliteit met plug-ins worden uitgebreid. In versie 11.57a zijn diverse kleine verbeteringen aangebracht:

- New file/folder dialog, multi-rename tool: New placeholder [X+]: Same as [X], but inserts empty string when the clipboard is empty or doesn't contain any text

- Show error "Path length = 0!" when user passes empty name to cm_Edit, e.g. /N="", or the passed template results in an empty name, e.g. /N="<[N1,0]"
- Progress dialog not responding when deleting files from large 7-zip archive
- New file/folder dialog: Multiple counter fields within one pair of brackets not working correctly, e.g. <1-2>==[C"_"C5]--
- Configure button bar/single button: When entering a negative icon number to set icon by resource id, the image will be shown in the list if found in the dll
- Configure button bar/single button: The editable index field didn't support negative numbers, which are used to set icons by resource id
- Compare by content: Two lines were incorrectly identified as different when two almost identical lines occurred in the same file, differing by a tab character instead of a space in one position, e.g. a and a
- Opening main settings dialog via script and immediately sending Tab keys broke the Color - Others combobox, because it was assumed that the Tab key was still down (64)
- New file/folder dialog, multi-rename tool: Placeholder [X] to insert string from clipboard now creates an error when the clipboard contains a zero length string
- New file/folder dialog: Show when double quotes in a field are separate from the C field, e.g. <1-5>["prefix" C "suffix"]test
- cm_Edit with invalid name parameter, e.g. /N="Help file alignment broken when help rendering engine was set to Edge mode. Added line to each page to fix it
- New file/folder dialog: "+" button didn't show entire clipboard text of the [X] placeholder if the clipboard started with text in square brackets
- cm_Edit passed wrong name to editor with parameter /N="Prevent recursion when an em_command calls itself, e.g. usercmd.ini [em_recurse] cmd=em_recurse
