Terwijl versie 12 alweer bijna een jaar beschikbaar is heeft VMware een update voor versie 11.1 van zijn virtualisatiesoftware Workstation uitgebracht, een bugfix-release. Met dit programma is het mogelijk om een of meer virtuele computers aan te maken, waarop een groot aantal verschillende besturingssystemen kan worden geïnstalleerd. Op die manier kunnen ze naast elkaar worden gebruikt, in tegenstelling tot een dualbootopstelling, waarbij uit het ene of het andere moet worden gekozen. - XWayland-based Gnome desktop sessions do not display text in the terminal window
For an XWayland-based Gnome desktop session, if XWayland is built to use Glamor acceleration, then the XWayland clients do not render fonts. For example, the terminal window does not display text.- The Windows 2016 guest operating system fails to start when Hyper V is enabled on an AMD system
- DNS names are not resolved in a Windows virtual machine running on an Ubuntu 16.04 host
When you select a Network Address Translation (NAT) network for a Windows virtual machine running on an Ubuntu 16.04 host, Domain Name System (DNS) names are not properly resolved.
- Installing VMware Tools in a Windows XP SP2 guest causes the guest to crash
After you install VMware Tools in a Windows XP SP2 guest operating system, the guest crashes with a fatal error message, which might include the error c000021a, due to a memory corruption.- Starting the ADB daemon in an Ubuntu or Debian guest might cause the Workstation window to become unresponsive
When you start the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) daemon, such as by executing the adb start-server command, in an Ubuntu or Debian guest operating system and leave the virtual machine running for an hour or more, the Workstation window stops responding.- After you install VMware Tools on specific Linux virtual machines, attempting to compile the Host-Guest File System (HGFS) module either fails or the compiled module causes a Linux kernel crash
These issues can occur after you install VMware Tools on a virtual machine under GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) 5.x with a Linux kernel 4.x (for example Ubuntu 15.10 and Fedora 22).
Either of the following issues might occur if you attempt to compile the HGFS module:
- The process fails and a compilation error appears.
- The process succeeds, but the compiled vmhgfs module causes a Linux kernel crash.
- When you connect a USB 3.0 device to a 3.0 port of the host, the device might not appear in the removable-devices list
You encounter this issue after you connect a USB 3.0 device to certain 3.0 ports on the host and then power on the virtual machine. When you select VM > Removable Devices, the device does not appear in the device list.- On a remote virtual machine, you cannot select certain USB devices from the USB & Bluetooth Settings
The USB & Bluetooth Settings for a remote virtual machine do not allow you to select USB devices that are not mass-storage devices. The check box for such devices, such as a smart-card device, is grayed out. The result is that you cannot connect USB devices to a remote virtual machine unless they are mass-storage devices.
