NetBSD is een Unix-achtig besturingssysteem met wortels in de 386BSD 0.1-tak. De eerste versie, NetBSD 0.8, was beschikbaar op 21 april 1993 en heeft zich sindsdien steeds verder ontwikkeld. Van de drie bekende BSD-varianten FreeBSD, OpenBSD en NetBSD kan de laatstgenoemde op de meeste platformen gedraaid worden. Sinds enkele dagen is de eerste release candidate van NetBSD 4.0 beschikbaar, waarin men hard heeft gewerkt aan nieuwe mogelijkheden en verbeterde stabiliteit. De aankondiging van Liam J. If you want to build NetBSD 4.0_RC1 from source, cvs up your source tree to "netbsd-4-0-RC1", or just along the "netbsd-4" branch. Alternatively, you can download the source sets from the URL above, under the source/ directory.
We expect to release a second release candidate in about two weeks. Please help us test these release candidates as much as possible, to make sure NetBSD 4.0 will be a solid release.
