KOffice is een opensource-officepakket voor de desktopomgeving KDE op Linux- en Unix-systemen. Since this is a maintenance release, only two of the components, Krita and Kexi, added new features.
Security Fix in the KWord Import filter for PDF
This release fixes a security issue with the PDF import filter for KWord. All users should upgrade to 1.6.2 for this reason alone.
New Krita Features and Many Improvements
Krita, the image editing application of KOffice has gotten a new Half Toning filter, a new Colorify filter and a Smudge paint operation, that simulates the effect of dragging a finger over the canvas. Among the improvements can be mentioned that the transform tool got many improvements in this release.
New Kexi Features and Many Improvements
Kexi, the desktop database application that competes with MS Access, is the other application in KOffice that got new features in this release. Among them can be mentioned a "User Mode" that makes it easy to deploy Kexi applications and a much extended "Assign action" command for buttons in a form. There are also numerous other improvements that makes this the best and most stable release of Kexi so far.
Four New Translations
This release introduces 4 new translations: Farsi, Irish, Galician and Khmer, making KOffice available in 36 languages.
