WSUS Offline Update 8.8

WSUS Offline update logo (60 pix) Versie 8.8 van WSUS Offline Update is uitgekomen. Dit programma maakt het mogelijk om Windows-computers die geen of een trage internetverbinding hebben, toch van de laatste updates van Microsoft te voorzien. Door simpelweg een of meer besturingssystemen, officepakketten en talen aan te vinken, worden alle beschikbare updates van de ftp-server van Microsoft gedownload. Als de updates binnen zijn, wordt er naar keuze een iso-bestand per taal of per besturingssysteem van gemaakt. Via een cd of dvd kunnen andere computers vervolgens snel en eenvoudig worden bijgewerkt. WSUS Offline Update heeft ondersteuning voor Windows XP en hoger, en Office 2003 en hoger. De changelog voor deze release ziet er als volgt uit:

Support added for C++ 2012 Runtime Libraries Update 4

On Windows XP (x86) systems without SP3, kb953356 will now be installed before SP3

Service Pack support added for Microsoft Office Viewers (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Excluded Update Rollups 1-3 (kb2781267, kb2824160 and kb2862551) for Windows Server 2012 Essentials

Fix: Office multilingual updates' directory (ofc glb) was blown up

Fix: Download part missed Security Updates kb2768005 and kb2837618 for Office 2013

Fix: AddOffice2010x64Support.cmd script didn't consider StaticDownloadLinks-o2k10-x64-glb.txt

Fix: 'x86-cross-product' ISO images exceeded 4.7 GB (max. capacity of DVD-5 media) and therefore won't any more contain updates for Windows Server 2003

Ik gebruik het programa nu al eenpaar maanden en ben erg tevreden. Vooral nu veel van XP overstappen naar win 7 ivm opheffen van support. Als je auto reboot e.d. aanzet dan gaat alles lekker vanzelf, ideaal voor een install van updates die s'nachts draai

Alleen heb ik ondanks dat ik regelmatig de boel check op nieuwe updates toch dat als ik na installatie van alles en weer 50 a 60 updates klaar staan via het net. En dan heb ik b.v. 2 dagen van te voren weer een update gedaan van me client voordat ik begin met installeren ?

Dat komt omdat WSUS niet alle updates meeneemt. Alleen de updates die nodig zijn om te voldoen aan Microsoft's Baseline Security Analyzer.

"On both sides, i.e. for download and installation parts, WSUS Offline Update uses Microsoft's update catalog file wsusscn2.cab to dynamically determine the required patches. This catalog file contains at least all the updates classified as "critical" and "security relevant", but it does not necessarily contain all "important" and "optional" ones.

Compared with other competitors, the great advantage of this solution is that no one has to maintain statical download/installation lists, so you may be up to date with your update repository immediately after a Microsoft "patch day", without having to wait for a new release of WSUS Offline Update.

The disadvantage of this implementation is that computers updated by WSUS Offline Update will hardly ever completely satisfy Microsoft's Online Update afterwards, but the patch coverage does completely satisfy Microsoft's Baseline Security Analyzer (see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/secu ... 84923.aspx), and you also may add any optional update of your choice to both download and installation parts using statical definitions."

Mooi, Windows 8.1 en Server 2012R2 staan er ook bij. Ik ga deze eens uitproberen. Gebruik normaal Windows Updates Downloader om updates te downloaden en vervolgens te gebruiken tijdens MDT deployments.

ik gebruik WSUS normaal als server optie, niet als dit.
Maar laatste tijd werkt het niet na behoren

krijg geen meldingen meer niks op me clients, misschien dat dit kan helpen......

Voor veel mensen de oplossing. Ik begrijp alleen niet waarom Microsoft er niets tegen doet. Als de ontwikkelaar kwaad in de zin heeft, na zo lange tijd van vertrouwen te hebben gewekt, plaatst hij er een trojan in. Dat dat te associeren met Microsoft (door WSUS in de naam te gebruiken), kan wel eens onlogisch een vertrouwen geven uit de fabrikant.

Er valt niet veel tegen te doen, het is niet illegaal om updates voor je besturingssysteem te downloaden en iedereen kan er zo bij.
