Today at LinuxWorld, Corel officially launched the new WordPerfect Office 2000 Suite for Linux. Stating that "The availability of applications like WordPerfect Office 2000 on the Linux platform will provide users with an end-to-end desktop solution and will accelerate the deployment of Linux for mainstream use," Dr. Michael Cowpland, president and chief executive officer of Corel Corporation was very excited to release pricing and other details to the public.The Standard version of the suite, available for $109 USD or $149 Canadian, includes the Corel Linux OS based on the Debian 2.2 Kernel, WordPerfect 9.0, and Quattro 9.0, as well as Corel Presentations 9, and CorelCENTRAL 9.
For $159 USD or $249 Canadian, users will be able to purchase the Deluxe version of Corel Office 2000 for Linux, which also includes enhanced technical support, Paradox 9, and an entertainment pack with various games such as Railroad Tycoon and demos from Loki Games. Also included in the package is a Linux Penguin beanie toy.
