The Crossfire does make a formidable 4-speaker audio system and takes full advantage of the newer 4-speaker soundcards. With the creation of Aureal's A3D Creative Lab's EAX sound standard, game publishers are now supporting positional environmental audio in their products. A quality audio system such as the Sirocco Crossfire goes a long way to produce clearer and more powerful representation of what game publishers are trying to achieve. So yes as a set of excellent gaming and music speakers, these are excellent.For true Dolby Digital 5.1 DVD playback the issue of a missing centre speaker is noticed. Using the latest software DVD players or hardware AC-3 decoder boxes, 5.1 to 4.1 down sampling takes place as a centre "phantom" speaker is created. Essentially this means that the centre speaker's output becomes part of the front two speakers.
