Fujifilm heeft vandaag de FinePix 2800Z aangekondigd, een digitale camera met 2 megapixel CCD, 6X optische zoom, SmartMedia slot en elektronische zoeker. De FinePix 2800Z maakt foto's met een resolutie van maximaal 1600 x 1200 pixels en heeft een zoomobjectief met een bereik van 38 tot 228 mm (kleinbeeld equivalent), gelijk aan de duurdere FinePix 6900 Zoom. De bediening verloopt grotendeels automatisch, zodat de 2800Z uitstekend geschikt is als point & shoot camera. De automatische belichtings-modus heeft echter wel mogelijkheden voor belichtingscompensatie. Verder kan de FinePix 2800Z gebruikt worden voor het opnemen van korte AVI filmpjes met een duur van maximaal 60 seconden en een framerate van 10 fps in een resolutie van 320x240 pixels. Het 1,8" TFT LCD scherm op de achterzijde van de camera wordt bijgestaan door een elektronische zoeker (EVF) met een resolutie van 110.000 pixels. De Fujifilm FinePix 2800 Zoom wordt geleverd met 16MB SmartMedia en zal in oktober verkrijgbaar zijn voor een adviesprijs van 449 dollar:

. Voor sportfotografie ea. is een slr(single lens reflex ofwel spiegelreflex) wel gewenst. Ook de mogelijkheid om de lens te verwisselen is voor de amateurfotograaf onontbeerlijk.
