Afreey's 56x CD-ROM has lived up to the hype of being one of the best drives when it comes to DAE. Not only that, but its also one of the fastest drives I've seen when reading CD-R or pressed media. Combine that with low CPU usage and excellent seek times, and you have a very good drive for every day use.
While this drive was exceptionally fast when reading pressed and CD-R media, it was extremely slow when reading CD-RW discs. I found that the drive was locked at 8x CLV and had very high seek times. This really hurt the drives overall performance. If Afreey would have included faster CD-RW reading speeds and CD-Text support, I would have probably given it a perfect 10.
One of the best things about this drive is the price. Afreey truly does deliver incredible performance at a low price because you can find this drive for under $30 on Pricewatch. Other than the CD-RW performance, I really like this drive. If you don't use a lot of CD-RW media and you're looking for an affordable drive to rip your audio CD's, this drive is for you.
