Iwill's moederbord roadmap voor de nabije toekomst

X-Bit Labs heeft weer een berg informatie voor ons over de moederborden van Iwill die we binnenkort op de markt kunnen verwachten. Het lijkt erop dat Iwill zich helemaal op DDR geheugen gaat richten en volgens X-Bit zijn ze dan ook de eerste fabrikant die de borden in grote aantallen gaat produceren:

• WEP2-R. This is a Socket370/FC-PGA mainboard based on a new i815EP chipset (with the disabled graphics core). It will be designed in ATX form-factor and will feature an integrated ATA/100 RAID controller from AMI. WEP2-R should be announced in the end of this year.
• IV266. This is one more Socket370/FC-PGA mainboard. However, it is based on VIA Apollo Pro266 chipset and hence supports DDR SDRAM. The suggested form-factor will be ATX. The first shipments are expected in the middle of Q1 2001.
• IA266-R. This is another mainboard featuring DDR SDRAM support and intended for Socket370/FC-PGA CPUs from Intel. It is based on ALi Aladdin Pro 5 chipset and is designed in ATX form-factor. There will be 3 184-pin DIMM slots, 1 AGP 4x, 5 PCI and 1 AMR slot. IA266-R will also have an integrated ATA/100 RAID controller from AMI and four-channel hardware sound controller from C-media. the launching of this product is scheduled for the late Q1 2001.
• DVD266-R. This is a dual-processor mainboard for Socket370/FC-PGA processors based on VIA Apollo Pro266 chipset. It will support DDR SDRAM and ATA/100 RAID. If you are looking for the detailed specs and the picture, then go here.
• KK266-R. This is a mainboard for Socket A processors, which will also support new Athlon CPUs with 266MHz FSB. KK26-R will be based on VIA Apollo KT133A (with VIA 686B South Bridge) and will support only PC100/PC133 SDRAM (3 DIMM slots). Besides 1 AGP, 6 PCI and 1 ISA slot, the board will also have an integrated ATA/100 RAID controller from AMI and four-channel hardware sound controller from C-media. The announcement is scheduled for mid Q1 2001.
• KM133. This is a low-cost MicroATX mainboard for Socket A CPUs featuring integrated S3 Savage4 graphics core and based on VIA KM133 chipset. The board will support PC100/PC133 SDRAM. Since it is targeted for low-cost office PCs, it will also have an integrated 10/100 Ethernet controller. The manufacturing should start in the end of Q1 2001.
• KA266-R. This well-known product based on ALi MAGiK 1 chipset and supporting DDR SDRAM has already been tested in our lab. Go here for the indepth review.

Iwill wil op begrijpelijke redenen nog niets loslaten over hun moederborden gebaseerd op de AMD 760 en VIA KT266 chipset. Geruchten gaan overigens dat in het 2e kwartaal van 2001 een AMD 760MP (dual Socket A) moederbord van Iwill op de markt komt.

dat duurt nog wel lang zo,n dual socket A bordje.......dat is eigenlijk het bord waar volgens mij iedere tweaker op wacht dual duron 700@1000 :-)
maar okee..........het 2e kwartaal is hopelijk haalbaar.....

Een dual was toch niet beschikbaar voor de Duron, maar alleen voor de athlon? (Officially, totdat er een gekke jap komt die het wel lukt )

Volgens mij was dual duron toch wel mogelijk?

Alleen de combo tbird/duron niet ofzo?

Ik weet het niet meer precies maar ik dacht dat het wel mogelijk was alleen dat je ze niet kon combineren ofzo.

Dus dan ook sdram als zijnde pc100? Of niet?

PC100 is normaal 'oud' SDRAM. De VIA Apollo Pro266 chipset ondersteunt DDR SDRAM (Double Data Rate), wat niet compatible is met het oude SDRAM.

Oke, snap ik. Hoe heet dat chipsetje dan dat ook de oude sdram ondersteunt?

Om even op de discusie in te haken, het eerste dual systeempje met een Athlon is al gepresenteerd kijk hier maar eens.

Verder is het wel makkelijk te weten dat de "oude" athlons en durons ook geschikt zijn voor SMP. Het is alleen een questie van de chipset.

Ik kan het zo snel niet vinden, maar ik heb ook gelezen dat behalve AMD ook Via en Ali met een chipset gaan komen die SMP ondersteunt.

Verder is het mogelijk om CPU's van verschillende snelheden met elkaar te combineren.
