In third place the SupaOrb tied with the very well respected Alpha Cooler! The Alpha has been a quality piece of work for a while but seems to be losing ground. While the Alpha is still our number one pick for slot type coolers, they have been surpassed in performance and price when it comes to socketed coolers at this time. Top that off with the fact that there is a shortage of Alphas right now and it pretty much moves Alpha out of the picture entirely.
We think the SupaOrb will surely find a market niche that it will fit into well. As of yet, I have not been given any pricing on the SupaOrb, but if it is like the other Orb products, I suspect it will be very affordable. You couple a fair price along with the great performance it showed and you have a top notch cooler. The fact that the SupaOrb is not extremely noisy, does a good cooling job, has a retention system that works very well and does not seem to harm any of the CPUs we have used it with, make it a cooler that I think you might want to consider when it comes time to buy. They part of the puzzle that is yet to be seen is whether or not Thermaltake can stock the shelves with SupaOrbs for all of us out there. Only time will tell I guess. The SupaOrb is due to be released on October 25, 2000 and I am pretty sure our buddies at Plycon and 2Cooltek will have stock on them soon.
