Sensory Science today announced it is shipping its $299 Clik!-enabled rave:mp 2300 portable Internet media player to retailers throughout the United States.
rave:mp 2300 is the first MP3 player that utilizes Clik! drive technology as the removable storage solution. Most players on the market offer MMC as the memory expansion. According to Sensory Science, a 32MB MMC usually costs around $100 US while Iomega 40MB Clik! retails for $9.99 US each. This appeals to any MP3 lovers.
rave:mp 2300 also doubles as a USB Clik! drive; Windows recognizes the player as a removable drive and gives it a drive letter so that users can drag and drop files into other Clik! media. USB Clik! drive costs about $170 each.
In addition, users can download information such as names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses from Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express to the rave:mp 2300. Other features in the device include voice recording (2 1/2 hrs on a 40MB Clik! disk), and world date and time.
Powered by a fixed lithium-ion battery, the new player is equipped with a USB interface and supports Windows 95/98/2000. It also comes with 80MB of memory using the two included 40MB Clik!(TM) disks. Each Clik! disk is individually serialized to fully support the SDMI compliancy standard.
