MSI K7T Pro met multiplier settings in BIOS

@r!k liet weten dat hij in alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.asus een posting had ontdekt van iemand die z'n Duron omhoog had geklokt met behulp van de multiplier settings van de MSI K7T Pro (aka MSI 6330):

Q: Interesting. I wonder, you have a Duron 600@900 Pretested, on a MSI 6330 KT133 . How did you get the Duron 600 to go to 900 on that board? I don't see the MSI board having stable FSB above 110...

A: The motherboard has a multiplier unlock in the bios. With that you can test a CPU at 9.0x instead of the default 6.0x. Some CPUs will do 9.5x actually but rare so far.

De Duron/Thunderbird multiplier kwestie blijft toch wazig... Het lijkt me dat het hier niet om een engineering sample met ongelockte multipliers gaat, toch was multiplier tweaking mogelijk.

Die multiplier unlock in de bios zou goed mogelijk kunnen zijn met een nieuwe MSI 6330 bios (v1.2)update (heb 'm zelf nog niet geprobeerd):

Hmm, I have this mobo, and there is no setting in the bios to change the multiplier to 9.

Updating to version 1.2 of the bios didnt do anything, no new items or changes in the bios.

Well, I emailed the guy this:


Hmm, I have the same board, and there is no option for this in the bios.
I also saw on your site that you say :

Now, how am I gonna test it myself, if there is no such option in the bios
of the MSI K7T Pro????

THe boards I have do have the option in the bios for multiplier adjustment.

I guees we can all stop hoping that this would be a true story, since the guy can even give any information on what revision, or bios version he is using. He is full of BS in my opinion.

Laat ik nou in het bezit zijn van een Duron 650 sample!! Met een beetje mazzel is die unlocked!!

Nu nog ff een MSI bordje scoren

Wordt toch een beetje vaag verhaal dat mulitplier unlock
wel-niet-wel-niet-wel wat is het nu ??
zo weet je nog steeds niks moet van meerdere kanten worden bevestigd (gebruikers)
ik zie het even aan een wacht met vragen wordt het nu wel :)of niet (keuze MBord wordt zo niet makkelijker)

je kunt iets wat in de rom zit ingebakken niet softwarematig veranderen lijkt mij??????
alleen eeprom (electrically erasable programmable read-only memory) en eprom (dat kun je zelf wel verzinnen) zijn te "flashen"
de naam rom zegt het al READ ONLY MEMORY
dus je bios kun je flashen maar je processor niet !
althans deze niet


ik bedoel dus eigenlijk dat die instructies in je cpu zitten ingebakken in waarschijnlijk een soort rom en die dus niet te modificeren zijn
