Intel heeft bekend gemaakt dat het de release van de Celeron 633 en 666 heeft vertraagd naar juni. De introductie van beide processors stond oorspronkelijk gepland voor 26 april, maar zul nu waarschijnlijk op 26 juni plaatsvinden. Hoewel OEMs niet zullen juichen vanwege deze delay, verzekerd Intel zichzelf er wel van dat het op het moment van introductie voldoende processors aan de markt kan leveren. In tegenstelling tot de 'papieren introducties' van de afgelopen maanden is dat iets waar de OEMs wél gelukkig van worden:
Intel's 633- and 667-MHz desktop Celeron microprocessors, previously expected in systems shipping April 26, have instead been delayed until June, most likely June 26, according to industry sources and OEMs.While a product delay may seem to be an odd way to win OEM confidence, sources said the plan will cause Intel to break its original shipping date, but ultimately will ensure a sufficient supply of products to meet demand from PC makers. A 700-MHz Celeron is still scheduled for a June 26 launch, while a 933-MHz Pentium III is on track to debut in systems May 22.
