Software-update: Opera Mobile 9.5 bèta 1

Opera heeft de eerste bètaversie van Opera Mobile 9.5 beschikbaar gesteld. De nieuwe versie van de webbrowser voor mobieltjes kan via deze link gedownload worden voor toestellen met een aanraakgevoelig scherm die Windows Mobile 5 of 6 draaien. De nieuwe 9.5-serie van Opera Mobile bevat onder meer een verbeterde gebruikersinterface en betere ondersteuning van de webstandaarden. Ook geven de ontwikkelaars te kennen dat Opera Mobile 9.5 sneller dan zijn voorganger is en dat de debugger Dragonfly standaard onderdeel is van de Mobile-browser. Opera Software today released the much-anticipated, first public version of Opera Mobile 9.5 beta. A powerful foreshadowing of what is to come, this beta takes mobile browsing speed and features to a new level, complete with visual effects and a new look.

Opera has changed the face of its mobile browser in this beta release. As with the latest version of Opera Mini, Opera Mobile 9.5 beta now defaults to page overview mode, allowing the user to view the entire Web page and instantly recognize the Web site. With panning and zooming options, the user is able to focus on specific page content. Opera also introduces a sleek, new user interface for easier navigation.

Known issues

• ActiveX is disabled -> Flash plugins and embedded video streaming do not work.
• Custom IME’s (like HTC’s IME) will be buggy at best, not working at worst.
• Not multilingual build — Only English is supported. Problems with other languages (and input methods) is not unexpected.
• Installation on memory cards may cause problems.
• Text wraps in overview mode.
