Software-update: Pamela Standard 1.1

Pamela is een antwoordapparaat voor de VoIP-applicatie Skype en is afkomstig van Pamela Systems. Het is in staat om een bericht op te nemen of een tekstbericht te versturen naar de beller als je geen zin of tijd hebt om een gesprek via Skype te beantwoorden. Pamela is verkrijgbaar in twee smaken, de Basic-variant is gratis en de Standard-variant is meer up-to-date maar heeft ook een prijskaartje. Pamela Standard is sinds enkele dagen als versie 1.1 binnen te halen met de volgende aankondiging:

Pamela announces the availability of Pamela Standard Version 1.1. Pamela Standard is available as an upgrade package for existing Pamela Basic users and offers the following additional features.

• Option to send an informative (customisable) chat message that the caller will be forwarded to voicemail
• Optional (customisable) confirmation chat message sent to caller after message recording with duration of left message
• COOL: Option to have Pamela send a (customisable) chat message to a new caller when you already are in an active call and don't want to be disturbed
• Maximum recording time of voice messages of 4 hours (time can be set anywhere from 1 minute to 4 hours)
• Option to only play a greeting message but not record messages
• Visual notification which voice messages have been played and which ones are new
• Ability to choose the sound recording format of voice messages (e.g. MP3 encoded recordings)
• Optional visual balloon notification when the status of your Skype contacts changes (with details about the new status, e.g. contact X is now "Online”)
• Take a call answered by Pamela back to Skype to speak to the caller
• Free future product upgrades and active forum support (own section)

[break]Let er wel op dat deze nieuwe versie op dit moment alleen nog maar als Pamela Standard binnen te halen is nadat je de applicatie via de website hebt aangeschaft. Of en wanneer de Basic-variant beschikbaar komt is op dit moment niet duidelijk.

Samen met kkoenders van het Pamela forum hoop ik over niet al te lange tijd de Nederlanstalige tutorial van Pamela uit te kunnen brengen. Ook help ik kkoenders bij de Nederlandstalige versie van Pamela.

Ik ben zelf zeer enthousiast over Pamela, vooral omdat het meer opties bied dan SAM. Enig nadeel aan Pamela vind ik de geluidsafhandeling: je kan tijdens het afpseln van je begroetingsbericht en het opnemen van een voicemail niet meeluisteren. Met SAM kon dat wel.
