Samba heeft versie 3.5.0 van rsync uitgebracht. Dit programma voorziet in een snelle manier om bestanden geheel of gedeeltelijk tussen verschillende servers en locaties te synchroniseren. Het wordt dan ook veel op de achtergrond toegepast in allerlei synchronisatieprogramma's, maar kan bijvoorbeeld ook voor de off-site back-up van fileservers gebruikt worden. Wie meer wil weten, kan de beschikbare documentatie doorlezen, waarin ook een aantal tutorials wordt vermeld. In deze uitgave zijn een groot aantal fouten en beveiligingsproblemen verholpen en de complete lijst kan hier worden gevonden; dit is de aankondiging voor deze uitgave:

We have also made backports to 3.4.1 and 3.2.7 available to the distros with all the relevant security fixes. We expect updated releases for the LTS distros to happen in the next couple of days.
