Software-update: 1Password 8.11.22

Voor de veiligheid is het beter om voor ieder account een ander en sterk wachtwoord te gebruiken. Als een bepaalde dienst wachtwoorden laat uitlekken, zijn niet al je andere accounts met hetzelfde wachtwoord toegankelijk. Voor het bijhouden van al deze verschillende wachtwoorden zijn wachtwoordmanagers een uitkomst. 1Password is er hier een van en is beschikbaar als webapplicatie, als app op verschillende platforms en als extensie voor de meestgebruikte browsers. Het kan twee weken geprobeerd worden, waarna een licentie moet worden aangeschaft. Voor meer informatie over de mogelijkheden verwijzen we naar deze pagina. In versie 8.11.22 zijn de volgende veranderingen en verbeteringen doorgevoerd:

1Password for Windows 8.11.22

• Localization has been improved for a number of our supported languages using new translations from Crowdin.
• If you enforce the “Use your device’s Trusted Platform Module to unlock” setting with a policy, 1Password will now appropriately apply the setting on startup.
• We’ve fixed an issue on Windows 10 where 1Password would always open on startup if you used the MSIX installer, even if you set it as hidden.

1Password for Linux 8.11.22

• You no longer need to authenticate approval prompts on Wayland when 1Password is already unlocked.
• Localization has been improved for a number of our supported languages using new translations from Crowdin.
• You can now hover over destination paths for local .env files in Environments to view the full path.

1Password for Android 8.11.22

• We’ve moved the location of the “Unlock with device” setting under the “Unlock” heading in Settings > Security.

• We’ve fixed an issue where you couldn’t select the “Sign in” button after you changed your account email, and an issue where your Secret Key wouldn’t pre-populate after you changed your account password.

1Password for iOS 8.11.22

• Localization has been improved for a number of our supported languages using new translations from Crowdin.

1Password in the browser 8.11.22

• We’ve added a new setting to manage whether 1Password.com automatically unlocks when your 1Password browser extension is unlocked. You can find the setting in the browser extension under Settings > Security > “Sign in to 1Password in the browser automatically”.
• The 1Password browser extension can now warn you if you try to paste into a website that isn’t linked to a 1Password item.
• Localization has been improved for a number of our supported languages using new translations from Crowdin.
• We’ve improved the “Welcome to 1Password” flow in Firefox so that the permissions page appears first.

In mijn ogen 'best-in-class' qua wachtwoordmanager. Vooral van het feit dat de 2FA code automatisch werd ingevuld kon ik best van genieten.

Enige obstakel is dat je een licentie niet moet aanschaffen maar dat je een abonnement moet nemen van 3,65 euro per maand (indien je per jaar betaalt). Dat was het me toch echt niet waard.

Er zijn alternatieven:

- Bitwarden (gebruik ik nu, 10 dollar per jaar, dus minder dan 1 euro per maand)

- Vaultwarden (selfhosted, je gebruikt bitwarden clients, hiervoor heb je wat hobbyisme nodig en eigen nas of server)

- Aliasvault (?), new kid on de block, snelle ontwikkeling, misschien dat ik dit ook eens ga proberen.
