Software-update: Apple Mac OS X 10.2.8

Apple heeft nieuwe updates geplaatst voor Mac-systemen met het OS X-besturingssysteem. Het gaat om versie 10.2.8 en is te downloaden in drie verschillende smaken: de eerste variant is bedoeld voor de G4- en eerdere systemen. Nummer twee werkt alleen op G5-computers en de laatste download draait alleen op Mac OS X Server. De release notes voor deze versies zien er als volgt uit:

The 10.2.8 Update (Build 6R73) delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for the following applications, services and technologies: Audio, Bluetooth, Classic compatibility, Finder, Graphics, LDAP, Power Management, Safari, and FireWire and USB device compatibility. It also includes an updated ethernet driver for 450MHz and 500MHz dual processor Power Mac G4 desktop systems and an update to the battery status menu.

The 10.2.8 (G5) Update delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for the following applications, services and technologies: AirPort, Bluetooth, LDAP, and FireWire and USB device compatibility.The update also provides updated security services and includes the latest Security Updates

Mac OS X Server Update

The 10.2.8 Server Update (Build 6R73) delivers enhanced functionality and improved reliability for the following services and technologies: Open Directory Password Server, LDAP, and FireWire and USB device compatibility. It also includes an updated ethernet driver for 450MHz and 500MHz dual processor Power Mac G4 desktop systems and an update to the battery status menu.

Het gaat dus om de verbeterde 10.2.8 update, degenen die de eerdere (door Apple teruggetrokken) 10.2.8 update geinstalleerd hebben kunnen de update-correctie downloaden.

OK, die ga ik dus vanavond installeren

Ik ben nu op dit moment bezig met Gentoo op mijn powerbookje 12". Wel grappig om te zien dat al die macs alles softwarematig aansturen. Zelfs dat powerlampje wordt softwarematig aangestuurd en dient nu als een laadlampje

Tot nu toe lekker stabiel, draaid dus inderdaad ook prima op een iBook 500Mhz.

Heb ook het gevoel dat het allemaal weer wat soepeler gaat, maar dat kan ook zeker een bedrog zijn.
Tot zover ben ik er wel positief over.

ik had de vorige 10.2.8 (degene die ingetrokken was) al draaien op mijn PoBo G4, 1Ghz. Maar ik heb totaal geen problemen ondervonden.

Natuurlijk nu opnieuw geupdate, en alleen een ethernetdriver was veranderd.
