Software-update: Shotcut 18.11.18

Shotcut is een uitgebreid gratis, opensource en crossplatform videobewerkingsprogramma voor Windows, Linux en macOS. Het maakt gebruik van FFmpeg en heeft daardoor ondersteuning voor de meest gangbare formaten audio en video. De bestanden worden niet geïmporteerd, maar worden in hun originele formaat bewerkt. Het kan overweg met meerdere sporen en binnen een project kan er een mix van formaten en resoluties worden gebruikt. Verleden week is versie 18.11 van Shotcut uitgekomen, waarin onder meer hardware encoding op macOS en Linux is toegevoegd. Inmiddels is er ook een kleine update verschenen, die enkele problemen moet verhelpen.

Version 18.11.18 with Major Fixes for Hardware Encoding

• Fixed crash in Export (bug in v18.11.13).
• Fixed NVENC hardware encoders on Windows and Linux.
• Fixed VA-API hardware encoders on Linux. As a result, the Linux build is now based on Ubuntu 16.04 (glibc 2.23), which may reduce compatibility with older Linux systems.
• Fixed hardware encoder detection on Windows.
• Added Audio Waveform Visualization video filter.
• Added MM:SS.SS to Timer filter.
• Added IRE graticule and tooltips to the Video Waveform scope.
• Added support for the mouse wheel to the Color Grading circles.
• Added configuration setting player/warnGPU, which is a boolean that defaults true.

Version 18.11: And Hardware Encoding For All

This version brings hardware encoding to macOS and VA-API encoding for Linux. Meanwhile, the experimental GPU Effects mode, which was always unstable and unsupported is made a truly advanced option by hiding it. Now, one can only enable it by manually changing the configuration file/registry. To make things easier a New Project screen was added, most Export options are hidden behind an Advanced button, hardware encoding gets a checkbox, and a signed macOS build is provided.
