Versie 1.6 van StartIsBack+ is uitgekomen. Dit programma voegt een startknop en startmenu aan Windows 8 toe, die werken zoals we dat van vorige Windows-versies gewend zijn. Verder is zowel het uiterlijk als de functionaliteit geheel naar persoonlijke smaak aan te passen. De versie met een plus aan het eind is voor Windows 8.1, zonder is voor Windows 8. Een licentie voor het programma kost drie, vijf of tien dollar en daarvoor mag het op een, twee of vijf computers worden gebruikt. StartIsBack is meertalig en ook in het Nederlands te gebruiken. In versie 1.6 voegt onder meer ondersteuning toe voor Windows 8.1 update 1 en kan het programma zichzelf nu automatisch updaten.
