Skype heeft versie 6.2 van zijn voip-client voor OS X uitgebracht. Waar Skype vroeger alleen aandacht aan de Windows-versie leek te besteden, krijgt de OS X-versie tegenwoordig net zo veel aandacht. Zo is videoconferencing met maximaal tien personen mogelijk en kunnen tekstberichten worden gestuurd naar contacten die niet online zijn. Nieuw in versie 6.2 is de mogelijkheid om beltegoed cadeau te doen op de verjaardag van een contact en er kan nu een sms worden gestuurd zonder dat je daarvoor eerst je telefoonnummer moet verifiëren.

- One-way SMS without verifying your mobile number
Known issues:
- Account: Skype credit amount is now identical between Skype and account window
- File transfer: Progress bar will disappear after completion when downloading multiple files selectively
- Preferences: Skype quits normally with Audio/Video preferences open
- Sign in/out: Skype does not hang when signing out with Facebook account
- Contact: Messenger contacts will not be displayed in Skype contact group
- Screen Sharing: Free users attempting to screen share while sending video, can now screen share immediately after pressing ‘Continue with free call’ button in Premium Upsell window.
- Generic: Crash can occur on login if user has non-Retina external display on Retina macbook
- Sign in/out: Crash occurs when login if “Call Recorder” software is installed: Uninstall “Call Recorder” software.
