Skype heeft versie 6.0 van zijn voip-client voor Mac OS X uitgebracht. Waar Skype vroeger alleen aandacht aan de Windows-versie leek te besteden, krijgt de Mac OS X-versie tegenwoordig net zo veel aandacht. Zo is videoconferencing met maximaal tien personen mogelijk en kunnen tekstberichten worden gestuurd naar contacten die niet online zijn. Nieuw in versie 6.0 is de integratie van het Skype-account met die van Microsoft en Facebook. Dat maakt het nu al mogelijk om tekstberichten naar iedereen te sturen en binnenkort kunnen ook gesprekken worden gevoerd met Windows Live Messenger-gebruikers.
