Google Desktop for Mac kan onder andere zoeken naar informatie in e-mails, webhistorie en verschillende typen documenten en mediabestanden. Gmail-gebruikers op het Mac OS X-platform krijgen daarmee de mogelijkheid om ook offline door hun e-mails te zoeken. Daarnaast indexeert deze zoektool verwijderde bestanden en verschillende versies van bestanden.
