Sinds dat Skype for Mac voor het laatst in de Meuktracker verscheen, zijn de mensen van Skype druk in de weer geweest om de Mac OS X-versie van hun voip-software te verbeteren. Vandaag is niet alleen een nieuwe Skype for Windows uitgebracht, maar is ook Skype for Mac voorzien van een update. De Mac-editie is inmiddels aangekomen bij versienummer 2.5.0.85 en kan hier als dmg-bestand gedownload worden. Net als met Skype for Windows is het mogelijk om met Skype for Mac via voice-over-ip te bellen naar andere Skype-gebruikers, evenals mensen te bellen die gebruikmaken van een vaste- en/of een mobieletelefoonaansluiting. Voor het bellen naar andere 'skypers' is geen abonnement nodig, maar wel voor het bellen naar vaste nummers. Het volledige changelog van versie 2.5.0.85 ziet er als volgt uit:
