MP3-player van Creative

Door Tweakers.net Nieuwsposter, 9 april 1999 16:280 reacties, bron: News.com

Eindelijk concurrentie voor de Diamond Rio. Meer concurrentie => lagere prijzen ????
Laten we het hopen.

The market for digital portable music players will get some added competition next week when Creative Labs announces a new MP3 player at next week's Spring Internet World.
On Monday, Creative Labs will roll out its first MP3 player, said industry sources, joining a market currently dominated by Diamond Multimedia's Rio player.
Creative Labs' device, dubbed the Nomad when a prototype player was first unveiled last month, will hold about an hour of near-CD quality music, which is twice what Diamond's player can store, said industry sources. The device, unlike the Rio, can also record voice memos and show the title of songs on a small LCD display. It is expected to cost less than $200, sources said.
Users can download a growing supply of both itimate and pirated music titles in the MP3 (MPEG-3) digital audio format from their PCs to their hard disk drive or an expanding array of newfangled portable music players storming the market.

Hier heb ik het gevonden.

K7 toch in juni

Apparently that bit that I pulled from The Register yesterday, which mentioned that the K7 might be delayed, was incorrect. Check out this nibblet that I received from AMD's Drew Prairie:

You are dead-on with this one. The cautionary statement has, and will continue to be, included in nearly all of our press releases that deal with future looking statements. We are still on track to deliver initial volume production of the K7 in June. The release should not be read as an indication of any delay. If there were a delay in the availability schedule, we wouldn't bury it at the end of a press release.
K7 is the future...

Drew

According to Maximum PC magazine, an ATI guy, speaking at WinHEC 99, claimed the new chip would will run at 125MHz and above, and sport anisotropic filtering and DirectX 6 texture compression. That's in addition to the Rage 128's current 128-bit dual-pipeline architecture, 32-bit z-buffer, 32-bit rendering and support for up to 32MB of on-card VRAM. The Rage 128 Pro should begin to appear on add-in cards in July, supporting AGP 2x and 4x, plus all the flat-panel display support, DVD decoding and video out options favoured by ATI at the moment.
