TECHMONDAY: How do you compare the different cultures at AMD and Motorola?RUIZ: The cultural changes are always the most difficult ones. I am fairly comfortable with change. AMD is a place where things move very rapidly. Motorola is a company that is dominant in the wireless space. That leads to a different culture when you are King Kong in your space, as opposed to AMD where you are trying to nibble at this giant gorilla (rival Intel Corp.).
TECHMONDAY: What are some of the strengths at AMD?
RUIZ: The Athlon team is committed to making their product a success. There is an emotional attachment to making this a winner product. Athlon (AMD's high-performance microprocessor) has created a solid position to go forward from. Now we can start thinking about what is beyond Athlon and to think from a position of strength.
