Acer Laboratories, Inc. (ALi) announced today a new chipset for Slot 1/Socket 370 based PC systems – the Aladdin-Pro 4. The Aladdin-Pro 4 supports Pentium III and Pentium II CPUs, 100MHz Front Side Bus (FSB), and a variety of memory architectures including PC 133, PC 100 and Virtual Channel memory. The product includes ALi’s Slot 1 license with Intel Corporation and is designed for both desktop and notebook PC systems.
Flexibility is a key benefit of this new chipset from ALi. Manufacturers can choose the best system memory for the market segment, as well as a graphics controller tailored to the chosen market segments, from the value up through the performance PC market segment. “The Aladdin-Pro 4 brings PC OEMs and system integrators a very flexible solution which allows the development of platforms for a variety of market segments with a single basic motherboard design,” explained C.L. Tsai, VP of ALi’s System Products Business Division.
Superior Power Management and High Performance for Notebooks
For Notebook Systems the Aladdin-Pro 4 includes two devices, the M1641 Northbridge and the M1535 Southbridge. The M1535 Southbridge, in addition to standard features, integrates 3D audio, hardware wavetable, super I/O, 4 USB ports, and UDMA 33/66. The M1535 also features the same power management capabilities that have helped make ALi a leader in core logic chipsets for portable system design.
Flexibility and Performance for Desktop PCs
For Desktop Systems, the Aladdin-Pro 4 includes the same Northbridge – the M1641 – which is coupled with the M1535D Southbridge. The high integration of the M1535D, which includes audio, super I/O, USB, UDMA 66/33, KBC among other features, results in not only a high performance and flexible design, but very cost-effective platforms across multiple market segments.
