Sony announced its new, cigarette-lighter-sized NW-E3, an extremely compact MP3 player that comes with 64MB of built-in flash memory and holds about five hours of continuous music. The 1.6-ounce device has a backlit LCD that displays track information and a shuttle knob for quickly bopping from song to song. Moving an hour of music to the NW-E3 unit from a computer takes about a minute and a half, but no mention was made as to how much play time you get from the unit's one AAA battery. To help organize and manage play lists, Sony's including a copy of OpenMG Jukebox. The NW-E3 is expected to ship in April for $330.
