Windows 9x high latency TCP/IP patch

I recently stumbled upon a patch that was available on the MS website that wasn't on windows update. I was puzzled that a critical update wasn't on windows update, so I read further. It's a tcp file that may or may help your bandwidth...so being the tweak freak that I am...I installed the sucker on my computer at work. The company DSL originally was capped at 80K or so...now I can dl at 130+ K!!!!! My co-workers home dsl went from 20k upto 28k. My cable at home went nutz....lately i got got 500-600k but I have gotten 700+k sustained before....I installed the thing on mine to try it...how does 1.25 megaBYTES sound???? My upload improved too..it was floating around 13-20k max...i just did 40 right now.... I hope this works wonders for you and the fellow hardocpers. Anyway, we had a tremendous amount of GOOD and BAD heads ups from both sides. Bottom line is that it is gonna be up to you finding out if it helps you out. Our bud Toby from over at the BXB did give us a tip that you might want to listen to before you do this. Thanks Toby!!!

That thing is meant for exceptionally high latency connections, specifically satellite connections and some slow one-way cable modems. It screws up dial up and dsl. (THIS IS HIS OPINION and NOT Concurrent with ALL our feedback) If anyone wants to insist on trying it, just be sure to back up the VTCP.386 file first... that's the only thing it replaces.

Is dit een andere patch dan die van vorige week?

Dat vroeg ik mij ook af, want die van vorige week heeft windows kapot gemaakt!

Femme: volgens mij heb je iets te enthousiast op ctrl-v geduwd

Over die patch: er zijn zowel posistieve als negatieve reacties. Mensen met kabel of adsl (zijn die er al?) schijnen betere resultaten te krijgen. See for yourself.

Euhm dat van die patch was al eens eerder gepost. Maar je weet natuurlijk nooit zeker of zo'n bericht iedereen bereikt. Zou er niet een dergelijke patch voor NT nodig zijn ? Kabelmodem is zowwel op win'98 als op Win NT langzaam. (of zou kabelfoon echt langzaam zijn ?)

ik heb sindsdien twee keer een vserver.vxd blauw scerm gehad. Wellicht ligt het ergens anders aan...

Dit werkt echt. Het beste wat ik haalde bij tucows was 400-450 kb. Net haalde ik snelheden van over de 1000kb met download accelarator.

Het werkt trouwens alleen bij de server. De overige computers die eraan hangen halen 200-300kb. Weet iemand waar dit aan ligt???

Hmm.... die Hx08 lijkt nog verdacht veel op die van mij. Met die voedingskabel aan de kast bevestigd... Ik mis bij mij alleen die pot Nitro :[)
