CPU Review heeft een artikel gepost over het nieuws van EETimes dat UMC begin volgend jaar een 0,13micron koper produktieproces in gebruik zal nemen. CPU Review speculeert dat dit proces mogelijk gebruikt zal worden door Transmeta, VIA of zelfs AMD (thanks AVL voor de link):
The following is purely speculation, but maybe they will fab for Transmeta? That's a potential match made in heaven; 0.13um devices could be used for low-power applications, which Transmeta appears to be targeting - not to mention that it would allow for some truly impressive clock rates!Don't forget, there is also Rise and Via; they could use access to such a process for their processors! Heck, even AMD might want to use some of the production capacity of that plant.
