MaximumPC wist een zeldzaam exemplaar van de Athlon 800 (release date 10 januari) te bemachten, en was zo vriendelijk om een aantal benchmarks te posten:

The previous record on a single processor machine running Windows 9X was 299. And that was a 750MHz Athlon with 256MB of system memory. The fastest an Intel box has hit is 280 with VC133 and a GeForce card.
Hmm, lijkt me niet echt de ideale config voor een PIII (VC133 SDRAM op een VIA Apollo Pro 133 chipset?), maar dat die Athlon 800 snel is wil ik best geloven. Scaling t.o.v. de Athlon 750 zal ook weer normaal zijn, omdat beide chips een 2/5 cache multiplier hebben.
