GA-Source heeft een preview van de AOpen AK72 gepost. De AK72 is één van de eerste Athlon borden met de nieuwe VIA KX133 chipset en zal vanaf januari verkrijgbaar zijn:
We were surprised that AOpen opted to use 2 ISA slots and only 4 PCI slots on its first design. Later during our meeting with Gerald Wang we tried to persuade them that for U.S. retail market one ISA slot was more then enough. Gerald seemed to agree and commentated that he might be able to replace one of the ISA slots with PCI even before AK72 enters full production. One of the nice features of the KX133 is that it allows the motherboard manufacturer to integrate a clock generator of their choice. AOpen will opt for high-end generators that will allow tweaking of FSB in very small increments.
Als hij in de benchmark tests hoog scoort dan is camino echt history!!
