JC heeft cool nieuws over geruchten dat AMD een tweede Athlon chipset in de planning heeft. De AMD760 zal naast AGP4x support waarschijnlijk ook ondersteuning voor PC2100 DDR SDRAM meebrengen:
A very anonymous fellow who has recently proven himself of great worth to me subtly hinted (okay, he banged it over my head) that in addition to VIA's KX133, AMD will be adding another Slot-A chipset to the mix. Specifically, AMD is supposedly going to unveil the AMD760 chipset, which has AGP4x and I hope some nonmarketing advantages, like DDR SDRAM support (mmmm...maybe DDR VCDRAM!), towards the end of the next quarter (Q1). Some sort of SMP chipset is expected at the end of Q2. I place that second bit under a microscope, as we've heard of rumours of dual chipsets before that point (like from Kryotech), so AMD's first SMP chipset will hopefully be unveiled before then! :O
